At Milan Fashion Week, Giuliano Calza’s fashion house GCDS presented its S/S 2024 collection, named Mediterraneo.
DM Ties for this occasion made some special ties with glamorous taste.
Read on and find out what happened at the Fashion Show.
GCDS’s SS24 Fashion Show: a journey that ends where it began
With the SS24 Collection, GCDS explores its roots, embraces awareness and redefines style. GCDS, under Giuliano’s imaginative leadership, has always been synonymous with extravagant realms and futuristic vistas.
But the spring of 2024 is different: a blend of the contemporary with a touch of yesteryear, a beautiful paradox of going forward looking backward.
Starting from authenticity, the collection is expressed through the expansion and amplification of an idea: the return to the origins.
Giuliano Calza, co-founder of GCDS (the other is his brother Giordano, managing director), explores the Neapolitan roots, but also the brand’s origins: all with a new awareness, which is essentially the Atelier feeling that has marked the brand’s growth in recent years.
There is a desire to mix denim and leather as well as straw and tweed. There are loafers and white socks, tailored garments and shirts, long and short ribbed dresses and glamorous touches. All presented with a certain spontaneity, with the lightheartedness of those who appreciate formality and break it up a bit, wearing garments on instinct.
DM Ties at the Fashion Show
After prolonged detours to distant territories, Giuliano Calza decides to return home this year. In fact, the show takes place at the GCDS headquarters. The intimate and precisely homely atmosphere draws the guests’ attention to the clothes and accessories, no longer to the surrounding space and the show.
GCDS at this SS24 “Mediterranean” edition of the Fashion Show brought on the runway ties made at DM Ties tailor shop, in Pontecagnano.
These are the words of Domenico Malangone, CEO & Co-Founder of Pontecagnano-based tailor DM Ties:
We were proud to have been the chosen ones by GCDS and immediately accepted their proposal to make ties for the SS24 Fashion Show, with enthusiasm and desire to succeed. End result: a great team effort!
It was a bold and intriguing challenge right from the start. Refined and distinctive fabrics, such as denim and wool bouclé, new to the tie field, characterized the always original GCDS collection. Difficulties related to the “untamability” of fabrics to be translated into ties were compounded by the creation of models all in minimal sizes. Things, these, that made the workmanship even more complex.
The denim pattern, in particular, excited quite a bit. A tie stitched all around and with a loop, like that of jeans. In short, an icon of modern clothing, in a tie version. A treat for the few.To GCDS I say: ad maiora!
